I'm outnumbered...

So David loves Pink Floyd and I know, I know, I'm probably one of very few who don't (go easy on me!) but he was playing it very loudly the other night (actually I think this was a month ago or so) and I kept telling him to turn it down, I didn't want Grace to hear it and lo and behold, she loved it!

"No pictures please Mom"

"No really..."

"If you continue to take my picture, I'm going to have to get my lawyer out here"

"Seriously, what don't you understand about the words 'no pictures'?!"

"Fine! Then you'll just have to catch me!"

Getting ready for an exciting month ahead of us!

So April is going to be a fun-filled month! We find out April 10th if we're adding a boy to the family or another spunky girl. We're flying my parents out to help us put up a patio cover (and selfishly sneaking in a wonderful weekend of visiting too) Of course we are at the Home Owner's Association's mercy as to when they will "approve" this addition but we're hoping to put it up in April before the temps hit the 100's!
We have an exciting trip planned to Dayton OH to visit Brady bear and meet his little Lucy at the end of April and with the weather about as perfect as it gets here, well it's just happy times here at the Hoffman house.

On a side note, this mama is determined to be fit and healthy for the rest of the pregnancy...we were at the gym this morning and I got several compliments on what a cute belly I had and I'd like to keep it that way. So after shaking my money maker in Zumba ("Hold on baby, you're goin for a ride!) I did some weight lifting for my arms and called it a day...I feel fantastic so I'm hoping to keep it that way. Don't get me wrong, this mama will also enjoy eating for two, but I hope to be alot more active and fit than I was with Grace's pregnancy.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'm off to take some measurements of the house and backyard so my wonderful Dad can draw up the architectural plans for the patio cover!

We are now obsessed with painting our toenails with "toe nalish" as Grace calls it...

no longer satisfied with Mommy's ability, she's taken to doing it all by herself. Strangely enough, Daddy is the willing participant in letting Grace practice on his toes. Yeah, behind that cool exterior, the manly mustache, lurks a boy who has polish on his toes!!!!

Grace, practicing to be a fashion designer, dresses Ava head to toe in the latest Cinderella fashions...

Graduated from high chairs to a big girl table! Now I just need to find another sturdy chair so no one 'disappears' in the Dora fold up chair :)

Teaching Ava how to put her shoes on the wrong feet...it's something Grace does VERY well.

Two things I've been meaning to blog about recently but keep forgetting

1.) The mustache, thank the Lord, is only around for another week until the ever so ridiculous Mustache March ends (I love my husband to death but why oh why must he test our marriage like this?)
2.) That ridiculous husband of mine has been selected for a promotion to Major and we are soooo proud of him! When he actually pins on is another story (politics, wait-list, you get the idea) but in the meantime we are beaming with pride!

Forgot the cutest picture of them all! Grace and Aislin got their very own "Little Tickets", they were very excited!

Nothing like a 45 minute train ride alongside some beautiful scenery!

We had some friends of ours from our TPS class come in for a visit this weekend and after a yummy breakfast at Sally's house we all bundled up (yes it was windy and rainy and CHILLY!) and headed to Boulder City for a ride on a good old fashioned train! It only went about 6 miles an hour or so and we spent the first half in the open car and braved the wind and cooler temps but what a memory that was...we all loved it, those that come to visit, you can count on a fun train ride as part of your itinerary, it was so cool!

"Are you ready Grace?" "You bet" she says...she loves to do thumbs up and say "You bet" and at the funniest times..."Grace eat your lunch" "You bet"

I just love this shot, minus the messy face and hair :)

A very sleepy girl on the way home and two selfish parents who wanted a nap convinced her to read a magazine :)

Just hanging out on a casual Wednesday evening...

Had to capture the one of her coloring on the hard wooden floor of all places! :)
And the other one she was about to run outside, her favorite thing to do as of late is be outside by herself, she'll walk up and down the driveway, go around to the front yard, skip on rocks, talk to herself, uses her imagination all the time...of course I'm watching her the whole time from windows around the house!

"You are my sunshine..."

I've always loved this song and love singing it with my girl :)

Henderson St. Patrick's Day Parade and Carnival

You won't find two happier people at a carnival...a pregnant lady and a 3 year old...funnel cakes, hot dogs, cotton candy...we thought we'd died and gone to heaven ;)

The characters from Star Wars even made this parade!!

The Ferris Wheel

Much to my astonishement Grace rode the Ferris Wheel at the carnival with David (they wouldn't let me on because of the pregnancy...?) At any rate I was so proud of her, she didn't once show an ounce of fear or trepidation and David loved pointing out everything to her when they were up high. She loved it!

Well this look says it all...

This was taken as she was running up to me after getting off the Ferris Wheel

Too cute to resist...

Christian and David are hard at work on the go-carts this morning and Grace decided at about 9:00 they needed a break so she brought out her tea set and some cookies and served them :)

A little ensemble Grace put together to go to the skate park

The dress and tights were what Mommy picked out for her and she added the pink skirt, pink shoes and pink sweater (notice the lack of braids) The pink skirt was quite cute, a little petticoat! She loves to go to our skate park to watch the kids skateboard, ride bikes, scooters, etc...this night she as happy as can be running around on the rocks, she was pretending the rocks were by a river...

Time to go home after we do a flip on the rocks...

Just chillin'

David and I are so excited, it's date night tonight! We're off to do a bit of shopping, drinks with Stephanie and Eddie (Paul's new in laws that somehow are ours too, right? They're in town visiting) at 5:00, dinner at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant at 5:30 and tickets to see Cirque du Soleil's Ka at 7!!

Daddy sharing his new book from Barnes and Nobles with Grace

This is how it all started...

Setting: Bathtub
Time: Last night at 7
Situation: Grace needs her hair wash..."No, I don't want my hair washed" Mommy starts her scheming..."Okay Grace here's the deal...if I don't wash your hair tonight you have to let me put braids in your hair tomorrow" "Ok, sure Mommy!"
I call Daddy in to witness the verbal contract, she promises him and everyone is happy (yay! I get to put braids in her hair, just like I used to, before she turned into a teenager!)
Setting: Living Room
Time: This morning
Situation: Grace is dressed, now it's time to do her hair and the water works begin and boy do they start flowing.
"Pleeeeease Mommy, don't put braids in my hair! Noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!" "Grace, you made a promise to Mommy and we don't break promises....COME HERE"
I braid her hair all while she is crying like her heart is breaking...snap a few pictures to capture the tragedy.
Guess how she went to school? That's right, hair DOWN. Now I defy anyone to say I caved and she won. You can think it, you just can't say it ;)
No it really boiled down to whether I thought it was worth it to send my child miserable to school or not...I finally got down on her level and asked her why she really didn't want the braids, and she said she loves her hair now because it's longer and she wants to show everyone how long it is (apparently to a 3 year old braids can not accomplish this) I decided to pick my battles, unbraid her hair and admit that she's not my Barbie doll anymore, I can't dress her or do her hair the way I want, when she has such strong opinions about what is comfortable and what is pretty. Aye aye aye, she soooo cannot turn into a teenager!!!

We discovered this great little pond in Boulder City last weekend...

Always on the go

Go, go go, She's coming!

Alright Mom, you asked for it...she wanted to see a picture of her daughter, well here it is!! :)

It was girls night out last night to celebrate the birthday of a great friend...we surprised her with tickets to the Thunder from Down Under show!!! Woo hoo! It was fantastic...they have got quite the entertaining show going on, lots of acrobatics and dancing and um, not so much in the way of clothing (don't worry, it wasn't a nude show!) We had a great time...I feel bad for the poor guy I was sitting on in the picture though, he was half my size!
